Crites, Maxine W. Went home to heaven on January 31, 2010. She was born April 25, 1922 in Doniphan, Missouri to Barney and Pearl (Graves) Ray. She married Ronald Crites on December 24, 1940 and lived in Jackson until moving to Kalamazoo in 2005. Maxine and Ron enjoyed 68 years of marriage before he passed away in March 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Ezra Ray, Marie Walker, Barney Ray and Harold Ray.
Mrs. Crites is survived by two children; Richard (Becky) Crites of Mattawan, MI, and Cheri (Eric) Larson of Richland, MI. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Melissa Kruse (Tim Stayman) of Grand Haven, Jim (Julie) Crites of Hudsonville, Jeff (Haley) Crites of Kalamazoo and Sarah, Marie and Jake Larson of Kalamazoo. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Crites will be lovingly remembered as a homemaker and care giver to all of her family. She loved to quilt, read and play bingo. She and Ron enjoyed extensive travel, especially in their retirement.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Wetherby Funeral Home, Jackson with Reverend Kenneth Ray. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-8 PM. Burial will in Fifield Cemetery, Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Park Village Pines Assisted Living Facility, 2920 Crystal Lane. Kalamazoo, MI 49009 or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, 222 N. Kalamazoo Mall, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
